Best months for remote workers
May and September are the sweet spot. Warm enough for outdoor cafes and parks (14-15°C), fewer tourists than summer, and accommodation is cheaper. May has the longest sunny stretches before the rainy July peak.
June-August is peak season. Long daylight hours (16+ hours), warm evenings, and outdoor events everywhere — but also tourist crowds and higher short-term rental prices. Book accommodation early.
October still works if you don’t mind 10°C and shorter days. Autumn colors in Tiergarten and Treptower Park are worth it. Indoor coworking becomes essential.
Skip November-February for a workation unless you like grey skies, 4 PM sunsets, and sub-zero mornings. That said, Christmas markets (late November-December) and cheap accommodation make winter Berlin appealing if you’re prepared.
What to pack
Summer (Jun-Aug): Light layers, a rain jacket (afternoon showers are common), sunglasses. Evenings can drop to 15°C — bring a light sweater.
Spring/Autumn (Apr-May, Sep-Oct): Layers are essential. Bring a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and one warm layer. Temperatures swing 10°C within a single day.
Winter (Nov-Mar): Thermal base layer, insulated jacket, waterproof boots, gloves, scarf. Indoor heating is strong, so dress in removable layers.
Year-round: A weather-resistant laptop sleeve is worth having. Berlin is a walking city — invest in comfortable shoes over everything else.
