Canggu climate — tropical, two seasons, warm year-round
Canggu sits 8° south of the equator at near sea level. Temperatures stay between 26°C and 32°C all year. The calendar splits cleanly into two seasons: dry (April-October) and rainy (November-March). For remote work, the dry season is materially easier — fewer power cuts, drier scooter rides, stronger mobile reception.
Annual rainfall is high (~1,700 mm) but concentrated in short afternoon storms rather than all-day drizzle. Humidity hovers around 80% year-round — plan accommodation with AC or a strong fan.

Best months for remote workers
May to September is the sweet spot. Dry days, strong trade winds, lower humidity, surf in prime form. July and August are peak tourist months — book accommodation 6-8 weeks ahead.
April and October are shoulder months. Still mostly dry, fewer crowds, lower rents (USD 100-200/month less). Good choice if you want quieter cafes and beaches.
November to March is the rainy season. Storms hit mid-afternoon and often knock out power for 15-60 minutes. Mornings are usually clear — front-load your surf and meetings to the first half of the day. Coworking becomes essential because villa WiFi drops with the power.
February has the most rain (29 rainy days on average). If you only have two weeks for a Bali workation, skip February.
What to pack
All year: Light, quick-dry clothing. Board shorts or a sarong. Reef-safe sunscreen SPF 50 (expensive locally). A lightweight rain jacket. Flip-flops plus one pair of trainers for the gym.
Dry season (Apr-Oct): Add sunglasses, a hat, a refillable water bottle. Evenings are warm enough for T-shirts.
Rainy season (Nov-Mar): Add a dry bag for your laptop when scootering, waterproof phone pouch, an extra pair of socks and shoes (things never dry). A small UPS for your router keeps calls alive through outages — see Internet in Canggu.
Work gear: A laptop sleeve rated IP4 or better. Humidity reaches electronics fast — leave laptops in AC overnight, not in open-air villas.
Air quality
Canggu’s AQI averages 29 (rated “Good”). PM2.5 sits at 6.8 µg/m³ — materially cleaner than Jakarta or even Ubud. Onshore trade winds keep the air fresh most of the year. Brief spikes happen around Nyepi (Balinese new year, March) when burn-offs are common and during land-clearing months (September-October).
