Dahab climate — desert, year-round warm, Red Sea breeze
Dahab sits in the Sinai desert on the Gulf of Aqaba. The climate is arid, hot, and almost always sunny — rainfall is near zero most of the year. Winters are mild (18-25°C daytime, 10-15°C at night), summers are very hot (30-40°C, occasionally higher). A steady northern sea breeze from the Red Sea moderates the heat and makes even the hottest months tolerable in the shade. Humidity is low, which makes high temperatures feel less oppressive than in coastal tropics.
Annual sunshine is among the highest globally — 11-13 sunshine hours per day from March to October. Rain is essentially absent, with occasional winter showers (3-5 total rain days per year).

Best months for remote workers
March-May and September-November are ideal. Daytime temperatures sit at 23-30°C — warm enough for outdoor cafes and evening swims, not so hot that AC becomes a constant dependency. Water temperatures are 22-26°C, perfect for diving and snorkeling. Wind is moderate.
December-February are the coolest months. Daytime 18-22°C, nights drop to 10-13°C — pack a warm sweater. Water is cooler (21-23°C) but still divable with a 3-5mm wetsuit. Accommodation is cheapest in this window.
June-August are intense. Daytime 32-40°C, with occasional peaks above 40°C. The sea breeze keeps it bearable outside, but midday is harsh. Work from air-conditioned coworking spaces; see the coworking guide. Water temperatures reach 27-29°C — the best months for diving without a wetsuit.
Kitesurfing season peaks April-October in Laguna, when the thermal winds are most consistent. See the neighborhoods guide.
Diving and weather
Dahab is a year-round diving destination. The Blue Hole, Canyon, and Eel Garden are accessible in any weather. Red Sea visibility stays excellent (20-30m typical) year-round. The main weather risk is strong northern wind (Khamaseen) in March-April, which can choppy the surface for a few days at a time — most dive centers simply shift dive plans.
What to pack
Summer (Jun-Aug): Lightweight long-sleeves for sun protection, wide-brim hat, strong reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 50+). Water bottle is essential. Consider rash vests for snorkeling — sun burns fast on the water.
Spring/Autumn (Mar-May, Sep-Nov): T-shirts and shorts by day, light long-sleeves for evenings. Swimwear, reef shoes (rocky beaches), sunglasses.
Winter (Dec-Feb): T-shirts still work midday, but add a warm layer for evenings (hoodies, light fleece). Nights on the beach get cool. A 3-5mm wetsuit if you plan to dive.
Year-round: Good sunglasses (UV is intense), reef shoes, sunscreen. Most apartments have fans or AC — confirm before booking. See the cost-of-living guide for accommodation notes.
